The Good Turns Foundation begins work today ... with its mission of “Creating a world where good is valued and people and communities thrive” ...
The first element of the mission is focused upon creating a world where ‘Good is valued’ ...
... as US Navy Admiral William H McRaven highlighted in his famous (‘Power of Hope’) speech ... “If you want to change the world, measure a Person by the size of their Heart, not by the size of their Flippers” ...
... we believe this too and for us 'Flippers' is a synonym for many other things e.g. ‘physical ability’, ‘academic ability’, ‘wallet’.
To bring this mission to life the Good Turns Foundation is introducing Good Points® ... meaningful points uniquely awarded to individuals for doing good ... for helping others, improving well-being, bringing communities together and improving the environment ...
The second part of the mission comes to life as the ‘earning’ of Good Points® is ‘rewarded’ and ‘people and communities thrive’ ... doing good is not only good for communities and the environment it's also intrinsically good for our own happiness and well-being too. Psychology and Philosophy both consistently highlight how happiness is fleeting, whilst a purposeful and meaningful life is joyful, motivating, fulfilling and lasting ...
The immediate 'reward' for doing good is therefore intrinsic (motivation and psychological well-being) ... however the Good Turns Foundation will be doing lots more to help people and communities thrive! For instance it will be supporting people a lot more in terms of motivation, unleashing untapped talent and creativity and in securing great jobs ...
We will be helping young and old and along the way we will be partnering with lots of fantastic individuals, groups and enterprises already on the ground who share a similar passion and desire to help people and communities and to create a better world ....
In a world where more and more people are becoming more and more depressed and see little/no future (United Nations 09/2021) there is an alternative path ... there is Hope ... and a path to a better future by doing good ...
